Rhode Island Roots
The Society publishes a quarterly journal, Rhode Island Roots, which features the stories of Rhode Island ancestors, case studies of genealogical research, transcriptions of Rhode Island record sets, diaries, and bible records, and material useful for tracing occupations, military service, and institutional records.
Our members automatically receive new issues of Rhode Island Roots each quarter, but if you are a RIGS member, you can sign onto the website and access electronic current and back issues to read and download. A separate index to Volumes 1 - 26, 1975 - 2000 is aslo available. Click the following links to access the years you are looking for. You must be logged in to access these folders.
NOTE: Older issues are now archived in a separate downloads folder.
We have also contracted with the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) to scan and archive the articles in our issues that are five years old or older on their website, www.AmericanAncestors.org. You may search these articles online using the following link: NEHGS RI Roots Search. (Note that a complimentary NEHGS guest membership is required to view these articles. You will find instructions for registering on the NEHGS web site.)
